Take the data. Cite the date.
The measurements published here exist to be used, including by people who compete with us. What we ask in return is what any dataset asks: say where it came from and when it was read.
Copy, redistribute, build on it, commercially or not, as long as you credit the source and the release.
A count is an observation of a public listing at a moment. It is not a rating, a ranking, or a judgment of anyone's work.
The rules cited are the ABA Model Rules. Each state adopts them its own way, and your own judgment governs what you publish.
Read with care and checked by hand on a sample. Mistakes are possible; tell us and the correction is published as a new version, never a silent edit.
The terms themselves
Short, because the site does little: it publishes measurements and describes a service.
Can I reuse the numbers?
Yes, under CC BY 4.0. Cite the release identifier and its date — both are printed on the data page and in every download. If you republish a figure without its date, you are publishing something we did not measure.

Are firms named?
Never in public. The registry and the releases publish aggregates by market. A firm's own number is sent to that firm, and to nobody else.
Rule applied since the first release; see the methodology page.
What if a number about my firm is wrong?
Write, and it is re-read. If the reading was wrong, the correction goes out as a new version with a changelog line; the old version stays, because a registry that rewrites itself is worth nothing.
The changelog is append-only.
What is promised about the site?
Nothing beyond the care described in the methodology. The site can be down, a reading can fail, and Google can change what it renders. Where a figure could not be measured, the page says so instead of estimating.
Rule 1 of this project: what has not been measured is not displayed.
Which law applies?
The law of the place of business named in the footer, and the rules of the bar of any state whose lawyers we write to. Nothing here creates a lawyer-client relationship or any professional relationship of any kind.
The footer identity is required by the CAN-SPAM Act.
